How to apply for apprenticeships in Zimbabwe

Soooo, last week I went to the Industrial and Trade Testing Department of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education. My mission was to find out the requirements for apprenticeships in Zimbabwe on behalf of one Misheck who had asked the question on our fb page.
Here is what I found:
  1. To be able to apply for any apprenticeship in Zimbabwe, you should have registered with this department.
  2. After that registration you get a clearance letter which you will use in your applications.
  3. To be able to register, you should have 5 O Levels including Maths, English and Science.
  4. A $5 fee is required for the registration.
  5. They also require you to bring your Original birth, original I.D., Original O Level certificate
After you have acquired the clearance letter you then apply for apprenticeships as and when you see them in the newspapers.
There is no age limit placed in any part of this process. You should also bear in mind that applying for apprenticeship at a company is applying for a job, so plan ahead to give yourself a competitive advantage.  If you want to pursue Motor mech, don't just sit and wait, maybe go attach yourself to a mechanic and offer your services for free so that you can learn, do an online course or two. Online courses may not be recognised for further academic studies in Zimbabwe, but they do matter on your cv. Volunteering for any kind of work gives you skills that you may never get to learn in class, so build your cv and keep applying for what you want to pursue in the long term.
